AFF is a full training course designed to take you from someone with feet firmly planted on the ground to skydiver in just 8 jumps. In the classroom you’ll learn all about how to stay stable in freefall, how to open and control your parachute, how to land, and everything you need to know to stay safe.

Next you’ll take to the skies with not one but two instructors. As you progress, it’ll become one instructor and then soon you’ll be jumping on your own. From jump one, you’ll steer and land your own parachute, with radio help if needed.

As your confidence increases, you’ll learn how to turn and stop, move across the sky and even do backflips in freefall. Finish the course with a big high five and a free t shirt (and beer!) then the fun begins and you’ve joined the sky family.

FAQs

What comes after AFF?

Once you have your license you can work towards jumping in groups, you can try out different skydiving disciplines. There’s always something new to work on, and as an AFF graduate you’ll already be friends with some amazing coaches. You’re part of the biggest family in the world!

Fitness requirements

If you have no pre existing conditions or disabilities, you can sign the relevant form yourself:

If you have any current or former disabilities or health conditions, you’ll need to take one of these forms to your doctor prior to your jump day. If you don’t have access to a printer, let us know and we’ll post one out to you.

We believe skydiving should be accessible to as many people as possible. If you are unsure if it’s suitable for your, or you need any adjustments to help you access our services, please get in touch and we will organise an assessment.

Is it safe?

Skydiving has a very low rate of injury, with the most common issue being skydiving students feeling a bit sick or faint. Injuries are possible in any sport, you will be shown in training how to minimise this risk. If you have any questions at all, just ask.

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions or have had any surgery you will need approval from a doctor prior to jumping, and may be assessed prior to jumping.

Is there an age limit?

The minimum age to skydive in the UK is 16. Under 18’s MUST have a parent or legal guardian to co-sign their forms, this can be done on the day or in advance.

The upper age limit at all for AFF courses in the UK is 55. If you are older than 55, please get in touch to see how we can help you.

We’re dedicated to getting as many people in the air as possible, so please give us a call on 0191 517 1234 if you have any questions.

Can I bring my own GoPro?

Under British Skydiving rules we can’t let you take your own GoPro until you have 200 licensed jumps.

What if the weather is bad?

Skydiving is weather dependent and there’s always the chance that skydivers will have to wait a while, or even come back another day.

All our skydives are non refundable, but there is no charge or penalty to reschedule due to weather. We do ask that skydivers are prepared to turn up and wait for suitable conditions, as forecasts aren’t always accurate.
